Update on Bailey Smith

Update on Bailey Smith

Recently we received the news that dad was diagnosed with cancer.

This week he begins chemotherapy at MD Anderson hospital in Houston.  The doctors are encouraged that they caught it early and plan to be as aggressive as possible with treatment.

Mom and dad both are in great spirits. They like the doctor and feel good about the cancer protocol.  We boys are amazed at their realistic optimism.  Dad is facing this with his usual tenacity and mom is bearing down with tremendous wisdom and support. We are also encouraged that as of today, he feels great.

Yesterday dad preached at Sagemont Baptist Church in Houston and 97 people professed Christ! Now, this is the way to start cancer treatment!

We are grateful for the many thoughts and prayers that have been offered for him and for our family.   We will post updates here from time to time.

We know that our days are in His hands!  And for that we give thanks.

Scott, Steven, and Josh

Steven, I pray for good health and strength for your father as long as our Lord leaves him here on this earth. I pray for an extension to your father’s very productive and God-honoring ministry. I pray for strength of faith, peace and the assurance of our Lord’s presence for your father and mother. I pray for you and your brothers to be able to rest in our Lord as you pray for and care for your parents. Just as many faithfully prayed for you and your wife, now many will pray for your parents. Our Lord will hear all of these prayers. He will miss nothing of what is going on. He will answer with His love and grace.

As a 34 year old pastor, My wife & I attended a revival service Dr Smith was leading at Whitesburg BC, Huntsville, AL. He preached from Matt 22 and that night I quit trusting myself for salvation & put my faith in Christ alone. Thank you Bro Bailey for being faithful to the Word of God that night, last night and throughout your ministry. Praying for complete healing & continued harvest of souls.

I pray for complete healing in the name of Jesus the name above all names. May God use this experience and the evidence of his faith as a witness to others. God is still in control.

Praise to the King of Kings! I rejoice with you and — as he has always been– he is in great hands. I don’t know about cancer, but I know the One who made him and loves him. I lift up your whole family –they are in trials of their own. God bless!

Bailey, you and Sandy have been strong in our Lord for years and years. That strength will shine brightly during this time of treatment. You are loved by thousands of people whom you have helped. You have both helped me and I thank you so much. You have a strong team of pray-ers at St. Andrews Anglican church in Little Rock, too. Standing with you.
    I love you both,

Will be praying for Bro. Bailey. When he preached in Sherwood Baptist Church in 1985 in Albany, Ga, I was gloriously saved and have not gotten over it. May God grant Mercy and Grace in every phase of this journey for our dear brother.
